Founded in 1948
Shotaro Uchiyama founded Fuji Transportation Engineering and Manufacturing Co., Ltd in Osaka City, Japan in 1948. Specializing in the manufacturing and installation of elevators, Fuji Transportation opened their Tokyo operations in 1956 and eventually became the first Japanese elevator company to expand into Hong Kong in 1964. The following year, the company added an operations facility in Osaka. After continued expansion throughout the decade, Fuji Transportation officially changed their name to Fujitec Co., Ltd in 1974 and entered the American market in 1977.
After substantial growth in the 80’s and 90’s, we entered the 21st century with a particular focus on improving and developing facilities and manufacturing locations across the globe. Fujitec’s global headquarters moved to Tokyo in 2008 and operates 11 global production facilities in Japan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, the United States, and India that service 25 countries and regions worldwide.

1948
- Fujitec Co., Ltd is founded by late Honorary Chairman, Mr. Shotaro Uchiyama for the purpose of research and development, manufacturing, sales, installation and maintenance of elevators.
1964
- Fujitec (HK) Co., Ltd. is established.
1968
- Fujitec Korea Co., Ltd. is established.
1972
- Fujitec Singapore Corp. Ltd., is established.
1974
- The company is listed on the first Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and Osaka Securities Exchange.
- Fujitec Venezuela C.A. is established.
1975
- A 150-meter tall elevator research tower (at the time the world’s tallest and largest of its kind) is completed in Ibaraki, Osaka.
1976
- A super high-speed DC gearless elevator with a speed of 600mpm (at the time the world´s fastest) is developed.
- A computer-controlled elevator group control system is developed.
1977
- Fujitec America Inc. is established.
1978
- A microcomputer control system elevator is developed.
1979
- Fujitec Argentina S.A. is established.
- Fujitec Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is established.
1980
- Fujitec Taiwan Co., Ltd. is established.
1981
- Fujitec Saudi Arabia Co., Ltd. is established.
- Fujitec Egypt Co., Ltd. is established.
- Fujitec Inc. is established in Philippines.
1982
- The world’s largest elevator production plant is built in Lebanon, Ohio, USA.
- Fujitec UK Ltd. is established.
- An elevator group supervisory control system with a learning function, is developed.
1983
- Microcomputer-controlled vertical parking equipment CITYPARK is developed.
1985
- Fujitec Pacific, Inc. is established.
1987
- Elevator Tele-Monitoring System is developed.
1988
- Elevator group supervisory control system using a fuzzy computer is developed for the first time in the world.
1989
- The Hidaka Plant of Fujitec Japan begins operation.
- Fujitec Indonesia is established.
1990
- CITYPARK EV, an elevator type vertical parking equipment, is developed.
1992
- SAFE NET, a comprehensive building monitoring system, is developed.
- The Batam Plant in Indonesia is put into operation.
- Fujitec Canada, Inc. is established.
1993
- Fujitec Co., Ltd. becomes the first in the Japanese elevator industry to obtain ISO9001, an international quality assurance standard.
- Construction of a research tower is completed at the Ohio Plant in the USA.
- AUVIS is developed. It is the world’s first elevator multi-informational AV system.
1994
- Fujitec (HK) Co., Ltd. obtains ISO 9001 certification.
- Fujitec Singapore Corp. Ltd. obtains ISO 9001 certification.
1995
- NEUROS, an elevator group supervisory control system using a neuro-computer, is developed for the first time in the world.
- Fujitec Korea’s new plant begins operation in Inchon.
- Fujitec’s demonstration test on a ropeless linear-motor-driven elevator is successfully performed for the first time in the world.
- Huasheng Fujitec Elevator Co., Ltd. is established in China through a joint venture with Chinatex, one of China’s largest trading companies.
1997
- Huasheng Fujitec Elevator’s new plant begins operation in Langfang City, Heibei province.
- V SERIES a new type of global standard escalator, is developed.
- Fujitec UK Ltd. obtains ISO 9001 certification.
1998
- SECURIA, an elevator security camera, which records images and sounds on hard disk, is developed.
- Fujitec Korea Co., Ltd. obtains ISO 9001 certification.

1999
- Huasheng Fujitec Elevator Co., Ltd. obtains ISO 9001 certification.

- The Shiga Plant of Fujitec Japan begins operation.

2001
- RAKUL elevator for railway station buildings is developed.
- FLEX-DD is developed. It is the world’s first double-deck elevator that can automatically adjust the distance between the upper and lower cabs.
- Shanghai Huasheng Fujitec Escalator Co., Ltd. a joint venture is established in Shanghai City, China.
2002
- The Shanghai Fujitec Escalator Factory begins operation.
- Construction of Huasheng Fujitec Elevator’s second plant is completed.
- The revolutionary TALON Drive System is developed.
- The industry’s first smoke-tight elevator landing doors that require no fire-prevention equipment in front are developed.
- GS8000, new type of global standard escalator with improved design and functions is developed.
2003
- MODERNIZATION PACKAGES, which offer four options to customers according to elevator upgrade purpose, are developed.
- XJ SERIES, custom-made elevators with a fresh sence of design is renewed.
- The world’s first PLASMACLUSTER ION GENERATING SYSTEM that purifies the air in the elevator is developed.
- Fujitec Korea Co., Ltd. obtains ISO 14001 certification.
- Shanghai Huasheng Fujitec Escalator Co., Ltd. obtains ISO 9001 certification.
- Fujitec Shanghai Technologies Co., Ltd. is established.
2004
- Fujitec India Private Ltd. is established.
- Fujitec Vietnam is established.

- Construction of Fujitec Shanghai Technologies’ new headquarters building is completed.
2006
- Functions of head office, research and development and production facilities are integrated at Big Wing.
- Fujitec Shanghai Sourcing Center is established in Shanghai City, China.
- A 170-meter tall elevator research tower, at the time the world’s tallest and largest of its kind, is completed in Big Wing.
2007
- Seismic functions that further enhance the safety of elevators during an earthquake are developed.
- Construction of Shanghai Huasheng Fujitec’s new headquarters building and new escalator plant is completed.
- Fujitec Argentina S.A. obtains ISO 9001 certification.
2008
- The Tokyo Head Office is established, and the two-head office system is established along with the “Big Wing.”
- New Machine-Room-Less Elevator “XIOR” is developed.
- “GS-NX Series” a new type of escalator is developed.

2009

- “DOOR-EDGE SENSOR,” a laser detector to spot a cord-like object is developed for the first time in the industry.

2010
- The escalator development and manufacturing base “Big Step” is completed.

- The elevator plant in Chennai, India, starts operation.

- Fujitec (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is established.

- A new elevator research tower is completed at Huasheng Fujitec Elevator.
- Fujitec Lanka Private Ltd. is established.
- Fujitec Korea completes refurbishment of the Incheon Plant.
- Zexia, the new global-standard elevator model from Fujitec, is developed.
2015
